About the method

The Nativemethod is a self-awareness experience, an experimental form of learning based on connecting with the horse. When you come to us, you can learn about yourself in a new situation, with room for experimentation, and a focus on process and connection rather than purpose. By being present, by being clear and authentic, by mobilising your inner energy, you can build a relationship with the horse based on mutual trust and respect. The experience you gain will be immediately absorbed and will also be useable in the world of people. The method falls into the category of Animal Assisted Learning (AAL). We work with mentally and physically healthy people at a self-knowledge level through the awareness of experiences.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE ABLE TO RIDE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE TRAINING SESSIONS. YOU WILL COMMUNICATE WITH THE HORSE USING YOUR BODY LANGUAGE AND VOCAL SIGNALS, WITHOUT SITTING ON ITS BACK.

WHY DO WE CHOOSE HORSES?

HORSES ARE FLIGHT ANIMALS, SO CONSTANT MONITORING OF THEIR ENVIRONMENT IS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THEIR SURVIVAL STRATEGY

The horse’s keen awareness, its perception of energies and intentions, and its quick responses can provide unique self-awareness experiences for those who are open to it. Spending time with horses is interactive, as we ourselves “read” the horses’ body language and gestures. Their closeness helps us to hear our intuition, helps us to focus our attention inward and on our bodies, and gives us the space to experience a deeper sense of trust and confidence. Until the early 19th century, people in Europe lived and worked in constant proximity with horses. Throughout history they fought with us, tilled our land, helped us on our journeys. But in our digitalised, often alienating world, they have a new role: they can lead people back to their inner naturalness.

My story

I AM NATASA KOVALIK, I GREW UP WITH MORCOS, MY HORSE.

I was half a year old when my father first put me on Morci’s back, and by the age of six I was riding him on my own. I remember little things: taking the saddle off after a cold February gallop, his body steaming, the life force flowing through us. We can do anything. At other times, everyday life makes me listless: Morci seems to take on these energies, his movements lose their harmony. I scratch his earlobe, he loves it, now I smile too. My zest for life is returning. That’s the point.

The horse is a mirror: we see ourselves in it. The closeness of the horse gives us back what we can very easily lose: ourselves. With my work I want to give people an experience of self-awareness. This ancient experience brings us closer to ourselves and makes us long for what is ours.
